New finds

I am outdated! A chef told me she would not eat pan mee anywhere else except for the one in Kedai Kopi dan Makanan Chun Heong in Lucky Garden, Bangsar. My curiosity got better and I had to go try it. Well, I agree totally with my friend for none of the specialty pan mee shops can beat this.

The soup is delicious and I ordered my favourite style which is the 'pinched' noodle with the fried ikan bilis and the usual condiments. In fact I went to this stall twice in a row over the weekend. Couldn't have enough of it.

Nasi briyani at Mahbub Restaurant

 Long beans and brinjals

 Sotong in dry curry.

At the back row of shops behind Chun Heong , there is Mahbub Restaurant. Now why didn't I step foot here before?? They have very good nasi briyani. The fried chicken is yums. I plan to order mutton the next time which looked so inviting. In fact, in the evening, there are many dishes laid out at the corridor and the choices are many.

Mooncakes from Kampar and random stuff during the weekend.

There can be no other red bean paste better than the one from Kam Ling Restaurant in Kampar. I have not missed not buying the tau sai pau or char siew pau anytime I am in town or for that matter 'tumpang' someone who happens to pass through Kampar.

Mooncakes with Ping Pei skin and tau sai. It is highly recommended.

The lotus paste ones are just as good.

NB.
This is a teochew mooncake from Setapak. Not the usual fare. It is a mixture of preserved vegetable and green pea paste.

Over the weekend, I saw this beautiful kolam at an Indian wedding.

This is Claypot Lou Sui Fun from Mama's Kitchen in Taman Tun Dr Ismail. It wasn't too oily  when I had it yesterday although they are not consistent with the amount of oil used usually.

Stir fried sweet potato leaves with garlic ( Hubby's favourite ).

Dinner was at Bubu Long Restaurant in Bukit Bintang. It is owned by the same person who has a resort at Perhentian Island, hence the identical name.

Grilled chateaubrind beef with sauteed baby potatoes.

 A simple delicious salad.

Vegetarian pasta. Very yummy and it went well with the grilled beef.

Sketch: Lecture Room and Library

Fortunate enough to be surrounded by friends who love nothing more than a weekend gastronomic session, I had the chance to step foot into the michelin-starred Sketch: Lecture Room and Library on the day Kate and Will exchanged vows. While the majority of the English had their eyes glued to the television screen showing the live broadcast of the Royal Wedding, we were out having our mouths glued to good food.

The Gourmet Rapide Lunch set menu

Crunchy breadstix

The starter platter

Foie Gras. Red Peppers and...Chocolate.

Far-end: the most delicious seaweed butter ever.

Beef Carpaccio with Vodka Mascarpone (yes, vodka) topped with Organic Salmon Roe

Pea and Mint Veloume

For my main course, I ordered the Roast Rabbit Fillet with Broccoli & Hazelnut Puree on the side.

Pre-dessert platter.

Panncotta.

The heavenly dark chocolate fudge cake.

My advice: skip the Ala Carte and go straight for the Gourmet Rapide. Who can say  no to 4 starters, a main course, pre-dessert and 2 dessert bowls? :)
